I just finished the Osso Good 7-day bone broth cleanse, and I feel oh-so great! See what I did there? Even though I eat well, these 7 days have been the perfect reset for my system. I will be honest, the first couple of days were a little rocky as I figured out the right amount of food to eat while drinking the recommended 40oz of bone broth per day. But once I got into a good rhythm, it was really easy!
What's the Point of a Cleanse?
The whole idea behind the bone broth cleanse is essentially a gut and lifestyle reset. I have never gone into detail about my health history on the blog, but I did do that 17-Week Candida Plan cleanse back in 2016 for health reasons. The Cliff's Notes version is that I suffered a really bad bout of food poisoning at the end of 2010 that caused a recurrent infection and triggered an autoimmune response in my body. I was really sick for 6 years. 6 LONG years that included monthly rounds of severe antibiotics, trips in and out of the hospital, multiple procedures, and I even had to receive daily IV treatments to avoid dropping dead of a heart attack at 23 years old. Crazy to think that was my life such a short time ago!! Thankfully after doing that 17-week program, my life has completely changed! I reset my gut, haven't been on antibiotics since, and this is the healthiest I've ever been!
I realized I had a choice to make - I could either nurture sickness and disease, or nurture flourishing health.
I hope I never return to that season of my life, but I will say that A LOT of good came from it. Not only did I learn how strong I am, I learned a lot about the human body and its innate power to heal itself. I realized I had a choice to make - I could either nurture sickness and disease, or nurture flourishing health. It was a pretty easy decision! I started becoming my own advocate, and made adjustments to my life and lifestyle. So you're probably wondering what this all has to do with bone broth.
Why Bone Broth, and More Importantly, Why Osso Good?
Did you know that bone broth is one of the best natural healers for your gut? I started incorporating bone broth into my diet about 18 months ago, and not only is it a great way to boost natural collagen intake (hello beauty benefits!), it is a great immune booster, full of vital amino acids, it's even been shown to reduce inflammation and aid in detoxifying the body.
Not all bone broth is created equal.
But after some research (and a lot of product testing) I learned that not all bone broth is created equal. In order for bone broth to be truly effective, quality is of the utmost importance. The animals should be grass fed (and finished), organic, free range, and if made correctly, the resulting broth will be thick and gelatinous, not watery.
I discovered Osso Good Bones through a friend of mine and quickly learned from their website that this is the kind of brand that I would love. Not only are they based in Marin County, which is where I am from, their broth is 100% organic, made from grass-fed and finished, free-roaming, healthy, happy animals. They are also Whole30 approved, gluten free, antibiotic free, added hormone free, and free of “natural flavors”.
Immediately on their website I was piqued by their 7-day cleanse. So when my friend put me in touch with the Osso Good CEO, Meredith Cochran, I jumped at the chance to give it a try.
I know what you're probably thinking, "7 days of bone broth? I can't possibly do that!" The answer is, "YES YOU CAN!" Because it isn't just about the broth, it is about resetting your system, and nurturing your body with real food. This is not an anti-food diet like juice cleanses or that cayenne pepper thing people were drinking for a while. You can eat as much as you need to or want to!
Quick Guide to the Osso Good 7-Day Bone Broth Cleanse
- 7 days
- 40oz of bone broth per day
- Follow a Whole 30 or Paleo diet (ie no refined sugar, no alcohol, no gluten or grains, no diary, no legumes)
- Eat real, high quality (and ideally organic) foods - pasture-raised meats, eggs, vegetables, fruits, and healthy fats like ghee, coconut oil, and avocado oil
- And YES, you can still have (black) coffee!
In other words, if you've ever thought about, "going Paleo" or trying Whole30, you can do this cleanse! If you work out, if you're a big dude that likes to eat, if you're a lady that likes to eat, YOU CAN DO THIS CLEANSE!
My Results, and Going Forward
After only 7 days I saw incredible results! My skin seemed to glow and blemishes vanished, I had more energy (I felt this more around day 3 or 4), and I was shocked at how much more clear I felt mentally. Bye bye brain fog! I even lost 3lbs! That was just after 7 days!
I loved the chicken and beef flavors the best, but I also tried the Revive and Immuni-Q. There is no other bone broth I would recommend to my friends and family. And the best part? Even if you aren't ready to jump into a 7-day cleanse, you can join me and incorporate Osso Good bone broth into your every day diet, starting NOW! I was drinking it by the mug-full every morning and evening and it was a great way to relax with something warm and nourishing. Plus, anywhere you use regular broth or stock, you can swap it out for bone broth. You will be shocked at the added depth of flavor it brings to your dishes and you get an extra little dose of nutrients. And who doesn't want extra nutrients??
Take the Leap!
Imagine if you tried it. Would your gut issues start to resolve? Would you have more energy and a more balanced mood? The only way to know is to make the investment in your health and give it a shot! What do you have to lose? 7 days? What do you have to gain? A healthier gut which means better mood, better sleep, better nutrient absorption, stronger immune function, stronger bones, clearer skin, reduced inflammation...sounds like a pretty good trade off if you ask me!
Below I've outlined some of my best tips to help you navigate the bone broth cleanse, and of course, the Osso Good website is full of helpful information, including the overall benefits of bone broth.
Do's and Don'ts
DO...drink the full 40oz of broth per day. It tastes great, is high in collagen, and it is surprisingly filling. However, it is not high in calories, so adjust your meals accordingly.
DON'T...starve yourself! Eat real food (along with the broth) based on a Whole 30 or Paleo diet. This is not an anti-food cleanse. This a pro-real food cleanse.
DO...drink lots of water! It will help flush out your kidneys, and keep your body well hydrated during the cleanse. You should be drinking half of your body weight in oz per day.
DON'T...cheat! It is only 7 days. You can do anything for 7 days. Consider this an investment into your health and future.
DO...meal prep the day or weekend before you start. Make sure your fridge is stocked with approved meal options, and plenty of snacks.
DON'T...go back to your old habits. Use these 7 days as an opportunity to restructure your diet and eating habits. This doesn't mean being super strict 100% of the time, it means adopting a 90/10 attitude - 90% of the time you stay on track, and 10% of the time you let yourself indulge and LIVE!
Hopefully you guys found that bone broth cleanse guide helpful! I know it was a lot of information, but I wanted to share more of my story, so you could understand why I am so passionate about health!

Hi Rosemary! Below is a link to Osso Good's website. You can order from them directly or on Amazon and your order will arrive on dry ice. They are also available in select retail locations. If you are local to Los Angeles they will be opening their first retail location this month. The cost depends on what products you order. They have many broth options, including AIP friendly if you are sensitive to onions and garlic. Their soups are also incredible, if you're looking to stock your freezer for winter! Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy to help!
